Winchester Ammunition 62 Grain Penetrator Ammo Details
The first question we always get about 5.56×45 M855 ammo is this: Is it good for an AR-15? You bet your sweet boots it is!
You won’t want to take this ammo to an indoor range that bans magnetic bullets, though. That’s because the M855 bullet contains steel, but it does so for good reason. The seven grain penetrator tip beneath the bullet’s green-tipped jacket does a marvelous job ripping through sheet metal at close to medium range, and it penetrates extra deep through unarmored threats as well. Take it outside to annihilate some stationary targets, or save it for an emergency – you ought to be just as satisfied with Winchester’s 5.56×45 M855 ammo either way!
These military-grade rounds have non-corrosive Boxer primers and brass cases, making them good bread and butter for reloading enthusiasts. This ammo’s cases aren’t tarnished because they’ve aged or been reloaded. They’re discolored because they’ve been heat-treated without subsequently being buffed up – the grayness is solely cosmetic.
