Barnes Bullets 77 Grain Open Tip Match Ammo Details
Barnes calls their Precision Match label ammo “consistency delivered.” If you have a 223 Rem rifle and the intention to riddle faraway targets with it, then this right here is the ammo you need to do your absolute fanciest shooting.
Barnes also calls this cartridge’s open tip match boat tail bullet the Match Burner. A Match Burner achieves virtually perfect in-flight rotational stability thanks both to its super-concentric gilding metal jacket and its evenly distributed lead core. (The aperture in the OTM’s tip is not designed to trigger terminal expansion – it is there because it lets the lead core settle in place until it becomes form-fitting.) The Match Burner possesses a ballistically efficient profile, which gracefully tapers at its base to generate as little drag in flight as possible.
This round’s bullet is a big boy at 77 grains. It will deliver the best accuracy in conjunction with a relatively quick twisting 1:7 or 1:8 twist barrel, as it will retain sufficient momentum at long range to avoid getting blown off-course by sudden crosswinds. This ammo’s premium brass cases are smooth-cycling and reloadable, and its match primers and powder are paired up to do one thing: deliver consistency!
