20rds – 45 ACP +P Underwood 185gr. JHP Ammo Details
A 45 ACP handgun is a great way to convey a very particular message: “Leave me the heck alone.” And loading 45 ACP +P ammunition in your weapon is equivalent to underscoring the “heck.”
Underwood loads this round to add 100 fps to its muzzle velocity. At close range its 185 grain bullet bombards its target with well over 550 ft lbs of energy, which is roughly ten percent more powerful than a standard pressure load. The bullet is Nosler’s work, a jacketed hollow point which retains its momentum while rapidly expanding outward throughout penetration to issue a deep, wide injury that ought to stop a threat dead in their tracks.
This ammo is designed to function smoothly in any firearm that can handle its heftier pressure. Nosler’s bullet is shaped to seamlessly feed into the chamber, and the brass case Underwood seats it in is nickel-plated for even smoother feeding and extraction. The case’s corrosion resistant Ducta-Bright 7a nickel plating is also resistant to cracking, so it remains valuable as a handloading component even after enduring so much heat and pressure.
Underwood chooses low flash propellant for their self-defense ammo. That could prove life-saving, as dimmer muzzle flash can preserve your night vision so you may continue to see your target after taking your first crack at it.
