Hornady didn’t load this 30-06 cartridge quite as hot as the average contemporary hunting load. They loaded to a chamber pressure of 50,000 psi, which is quite a bit softer than SAAMI’s maximum allowable 60,000 psi pressure. That propels the 150 grain bullet to a respectable muzzle velocity of 2,740 fps without jeopardizing the M1 Garand’s sensitive guiding rod. Everyone’s happy!
