Hornady Ammunition 162 Grain ELD-X Ammo Details
You have refined tastes when it comes to hunting ammunition. You’re not content to lob the same .30 caliber bullets as every other Tom, Dick and Harry. For you, it has to be the elegant .284” projectile of the 7mm Winchester Short Magnum.
And Hornady makes your ammunition. The Nebraskan company’s Precision Hunter does indeed supply all the precision and takedown power you need to claim your prize.
This round is loaded with a 162 grain Extremely Low Drag – eXpanding projectile. Its polymer tip is a Heat Shield: made of special, heat-resistant polymer, with a special flat meplat that enhances overall drag uniformity. The ELD-X’s secant ogive form, boat tail, and unflawed Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket all diminish drag to an even further degree, thus enabling the 0.631 G1/0.318 G7 BC bullet to conserve around 58% of its muzzle energy at 500 yards (test barrel: 24”).
The ELD-X doesn’t simply needle through the air. It also stabs deeply through game – its rugged jacket shank and InterLock ring (which mechanically secures said jacket to the core) in action. The ELD-X’s polymer tip is nestled in its jacket rim and nose cavity in such a way that initiates devastating terminal expansion throughout the 7mm WSM’s conventional effective range.
